Ecuador’s Llama Race With Children

Each year, woolly llamas, an icon

of the Andes Mountains in South

America, get dressed up for a

ace at Llanganates National

Park in Ecuador. On Feb. 8,

around 20 children dressed in

ponchos and leather riding pants

called zamarros prepared to show

off their skills in this year’s race.

The organizers hold the event to raise

awareness among indigenous communities

about the importance of preserving the park.
