Witches of the Isle歌词完整版
Years and years passed without a raindrop
The soil was dry, the wind carried death
Famine and pestilence broke out again
The city became a piece of hell
The remaining people were desperate
They had find those who were guilty
The ones who brought the drought to Szeged
And sold the rain to Lucifer
Hatred and envy took over the crowd
Like rabid hounds they turned on each other
Neighbour accused neighbour
Of treason and practice of witchery
The torture chamber was crowded again
Echoing screams of agony and pain
The grumpy old hag finally broke
And eighteen were declared guilty
The trials were long and painful
Some of them barely survived
Six of them died in the water
Or in the prison, took their own lives
The twelve who weren't so lucky
To die from the days of torture
Were sentenced to die a gruesome death
And burn at the stake on the isle
On the 23rd of July, 1728
The witches of Szeged were burned to death
But their memory still remains
If you're walking through the woods
Where the witches met their doom
Think of their fate and remember:
Nihil sub sole novum
The echoes of their screams can be heard
Up until this very day
Their death haunts us to remind us all
How the simple minded can turn to beasts
