Crossing Paths
(Farewell my friend, forever in my heart)
1626-1705
I have visited the monastery where one of my favourite artist had lived and died, his tomb is still in the monastery. I envisioned walking he paths as he did and every so often I saw his shadow in the trees or gardens. He is so admired that the buildings have now been turned into a gallery of tributes in paintings, carvings and sculpture. His life was full of tragedy and danger but he was often visited where he painted and shared his visionary work. This poem is my tribute to his impact on my life.
Walking in your footsteps
I imagine what you see
Full of lifes problems
Sipping on your tea.
Reclusive is your nature
Survival at its best
Your seclusion is a virtue your heart is at rest.
Crossing paths of vision
Your memory is strong
Only in a legend
A life continues long.
Can I ever know your desperation plight
Anger is a torment
Survival is a flight.
Sweep the blackened motion
On the plain of silken clouds
Images of conflicts hidden in the signs.
Given to the common
Withheld from high above
Your legacy of mystery
We seek to understand
Is a testament to truth
To all the world at hand.
Crossing shadows with whispering pine
I hear your vboice in gentle sway
The birds chant a soulful chime
They whisper in rhythmic pulses.
There you go
I see you silken robe
Paing in the moonlight
Your subtle glance
Brings me forward
But as I reach out for your touch
Your shadow fades as a ghostly apirition.
Farewell my friend
You will forever live in my heart.
